Day 1
Met on arrival and driven to Kandy for a sightseeing tour of the UNESCO-listed city, the Temple of the Sacred Tooth, and an evening Kandyan dance performance with a fire-walking finale.
Day 2
Continue to Dambulla to explore the 'Golden Temple' cave complex, encrusted into a vast rock and dating back to the 1st century BC.
Day 3
Climb the Sigiriya 'Fortress in the Sky', then take an afternoon safari in Minneriya National Park to witness its great gathering of elephants.
Day 4
Visit a hill-country tea plantation to see how Ceylon tea is made, then take a city tour of cool, colonial Nuwara Eliya.

Transfer to Colombo for a city tour — the Fort, Pettah, the Dutch Church of Wolfendhal, the BMICH and Independence Square. Dinner at an outside restaurant.
Day 7
Transfer to the airport for your short flight to Malé, then a shared speedboat or domestic transfer to your chosen island resort.
Days 8–10
